Rogač liqueur

Rogač liker

Carob fruit • This liqueur is obtained by maceration of dried ripe fruit of carob,  Ceratonia siliqua,  containing minimum of 14% fructose,  vitamins A, B, B2, B3, and D, as well significant amounts of calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, manganese, boron copper and zinc. Served slightly chilled as independent beverage or as an addition to desserts and creams for cakes as a natural fruit sugar.  Carob is a Mediterranean plant which is still spread all over the world. It was used for mummification in ancient Egypt. The seeds were used to weigh measurement because it was assumed that all seeds of one carob fruit have the weight of 1 Carat. This plant is very resistant to drought.  Today is unfortunately rather neglected and once the fruit was served as a dessert with dried figs and almonds as a special delicacy. Toasted and ground into powder once served as a coffee substitute.
